The biggest and most expensive track in history took 34 months and US$1.25bn to build. This 7.5 million m² Meydan Racecourse includes Meydan Marina, The Meydan, the world's first five-star trackside hotel, two race tracks and the Grandstand.
The Meydan Hotel is designed in the shape of a wave in motion with a luminous green glass facade, boasts spectacular views, substantial spaces and an abundance of natural light.
Envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Meydan racecourse district is part of the overall 19 million m² Meydan City project.
During the opening of racecourse Frank Gabriel, the chief executive officer of Dubai Racing said "The vision was always that Meydan would be used 365 days a year, which is why there is so much adding that can be used outside racing times"
The Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse will however, best be known for being the home of the world’s richest raceday – The Dubai World Cup.
