Yoshida Of Northern Farm Purchases Frankel Filly East
In a exciting purchase East, the daughter of Frankel who topped the 2018 Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale, has been purchased privately by leading Japanese breeder Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farm.
The 3YO will be aimed at the Gr.1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville. In her last start she finished last in the Tattersalls Irish Gr.1 One Thousand Guineas when she ran for East Partners. Prior to that, she finished a closing third to Castle Lady in the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.
East is best remembered for for her Group 3 at Saint-Cloud and second place in the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf.
The purchase of East is the latest in a string of high-profile European acquisitions made by Yoshida, whose broodmare band includes Gr.1 Irish Oaks winner Covert Love, Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac-Criterium des Pouliches victress Lily's Candle, Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes scorer Donna Blini, and The Mackem Bullet, who switched from Brian Ellison to Wesley Ward and was last seen winning the Gr.2 Appalachian Stakes.
East is not the first Frankel filly purchased by Yoshida. He also acquired the sire's first-crop daughter Gr.3 winning Toulifaut for €1.9 million ($2,135,600) when she was offered at the Arqana Arc Sale.
