This has been a busy season for Tony Bott who has been to all the sales over the last few months. Ten Furlongs had an opportunity to sit down and talk to the soft-spoken man himself about his 2019 Easter Yearling Draft:
Q: Please tell us more about your 2019 Easter Yearling Consignment?
A: We have a draft of 3 select fillies.
Lot 143 is an attractive filly from the family of Champion 3YO Whobegotyou by exciting Sire Exosphere, while Lot 390 is a racey type by Sebring and is a full sister to Champion Hong Kong galloper Lucky Bubbles and finally Lot 438 by in demand Slipper winning Sire, Vancouver out of a winning daughter of Cirque du Soleil, a sister to champion sire Fastnet Rock. All are an inspection must.
Q: What are some of the notable horses bred on the farm?
A: We are a relatively new farm and only recently a vendor. However, Sizzling an emerging sire was sold by us as an agent at Magic Millions in our first years as well as numerous overseas Group horses.
Q: When you plan matings, what factors do you consider in-order to increase the athleticism of a foal/racehorse?
A: When planning matings, apart from pedigree we try to breed an athlete. Therefore we consider both stallion and mare conformation for compatibility. Stallion pedigree and Black Type pedigree are also important criteria in our selection process.
Q: Who would you say is your proven sire pick for 2019?
A: Proven Sire pick for 2019 is probably the obvious, I am Invincible or Snitzel.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given?
A: Plan for the future.
