Preview: Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint 2020 (Horses, Race Info, Race video 2019)
Gr.2 Shakertown (2019) winning Imprimis, is hoping to secure his supremacy in the Sprint category on Turf during the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint that has also drawn Chaos Theory, Diamond Oops, Got Stormy, Leinster, Extravagant Kid, Into Mystic, Just Might, Oleksandra and Manny Wah.
The other hot favourites are Got Stormy coming off a local win in the Gr.3 Franklin County and Rusty Arnold trained-Leinster, the winner of the Gr.2 Shakertown and Gr.2 Woodford at Keeneland this season who is showing excellent form.
“Here he gets to run out of his own barn, and I think that means more than the course,” Arnold said of Leinster, who established a course record at 5 1/2 furlongs, the Turf Sprint distance while winning the Shakertown.
Oleksandra went over three months without a workout following her win in the Gr.1 Jaipur Stakes, but appears back on track for the Turf Sprint with a need to prove herself. Its prudent to note that fillies and mares have thrived in this event. They have notched three wins, including Belvoir Bay last year.
Bulletproof One and Texas Wedge come in for Peter Miller, who has won three consecutive editions of the Turf Sprint – in 2017 and 2018 with Stormy Liberal, and last year with Belvoir Bay.
The shippers are led by a solid contingent from California, including Gr.2 Eddie D winner Big Runner.
Wet Your Whistle, who earned a berth winning the Gr.3 Belmont Turf Sprint, flies the flag for New York. Glass Slippers earned a berth winning the Gr. 1 Flying Five at The Curragh in September. She was most recently second by a neck in the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp.
