The Korea Sprint 2017 will see 15 runners go to post, with 4 overseas contenders along with 11 from Korea. There are 4 foreign nations represented: Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and the USA.
The Hong Kong-trained Super Jockey won the 2016 Keeneland Korea Sprint and Hong Kong are this year represented by Danny Shum’s Lucky Year. Graceful Leap runs for Japan, while Singapore’s Wimbledon will carry the colours of the China Horse Club. The final overseas Sprint runner will be the Ken McPeek-trained The Truth or Else, who is the first ever US-trained horse to compete in Korea, is pitted against a full field of 15 sprinters that also includes Korean Triple Crown winner Power Blade, local champion Perdido Pomeroy and Hong Kong’s Lucky Year. The up-and-coming Open The Sky is another to watch, along with Doraonpogyeonseon.
For trainer Danny Shum, his first sojourn to Korea could prove a “stepping stone” to more international campaigns, which include the Dubai option, this season.
