David Gruskos' multiple stakes winner Chublicious caused a major upset by winning the 26th six-furlong De Francis for sprinters +3Yo. Named for the late president and chairman of Laurel and historic Pimlico Race Course, the De Francis past winners include Hall of Famer Housebuster and fellow sprint champions Cherokee Run, Smoke Glacken, Thor's Echo and Benny the Bull.
The bay gelding, won the $250,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash by a neck, after emerging victorious in a duel to the wire with Blue Moon Ace. Multiple Grade 3 winner Whitmore, came in 1 ½ lengths back in third but four lengths in front of another multiple graded stakes winner, Awesome Banner.
