If Forever Unbridled gets the gold in the Distaff, Owner/breeder Charles Fipke plans to send her out against males in the $16mil Pegasus World Cup. Although last year’s Distaffers Beholder and Songbird are now retired, this year's edition of the $2 million race carries intrigue and excitement, with horses such as Forever Unbridled, Abel Tasman and Elate going for glory.

Most eyes figure to be on Stellar Wind, the fourth-place finisher in last year's Distaff. Stellar Wind famously defeated Beholder in the Gr.1 Hirsch and Gr.1 Zenyatta stakes but disappointed last year's Distaff. Trainer John Sadler has started the 5-year-old daughter of Curlin just three times, and has a three-month gap between her victory in the 2017 Hirsch and the upcoming Distaff. She obviously likes Del Mar, where she is undefeated in three starts. With Victor Espinoza riding, she seems good to place in the top three.

Bob Baffert-trained Abel Tasman, may have disappointed in the Gr.1 Cotillion Stakes, but she’s had a win in Del Mar and has done well in her other starts. Medaglia d'Oro filly, Elate seems to be extremely talented, having won both Gr.1 Alabama Stakes and Gr.1 Beldame Stakes.

Richard Mandella-trained Paradise Woods, is a crowd favourite but has suffered from a series of mishaps earlier this year, questioning her ability to even finish in the top five.
