Klaravich Stables-owned Practical Joke faces tough field in the Gr.1 1mil Las Vegas Dirt Mile, which was won by Shadwell Stables’ Tamarkuz defeating this year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic favourite Gun Runner by 3 1/2 lengths. The Chad Brown-trained son of Into Mischief is undefeated when asked to run eight furlongs or less. Joining him in the field is Accelerate who was nothing short of brilliant when he stunned the racing world in the Gr.2 TVG San Diego Handicap picking apart a field that included champion Arrogate. He is versatile enough to take command up front.
“He's doing well but ... he's got his work cut out for him." Said trainer Bob Baffert of Mor Spirit, who looked to be the overwhelming favorite come Breeders' Cup weekend but seems to be out of form in his trials. His stablemate, Cupid walked on roads less traveled with Bob Bafferts during his 3-year-old campaign last year. However his Gold Cup victory was Cupid's fifth win in 10 starts, and boosted his earning over $1.6 million.
