Review: UAE: DWC Carnival: Gr.2 Cape Verde
Godolphin's Promising Run Wins Gr.2 Cape Verdi
2018 Dubai World Cup Carnival’s highlight on Thursday was a win by Promising Run in the Gr2 Cape Verdi for Godolphin. The five year old daughter of Hard Spun was very reluctant to lead but later was the fastest.
She ran clear of all opponents to win the race and was followed by Rehana ridden by Pat Smullen. Her victory gave Godolphin sixth victory in the race and fifth for trainer Saeed bin Suroor.
“As I said in the week, this mare shows us very little at home in the mornings but produces on the track,” bin Suroor said. “We were hopeful, but you can never be confident given the way she trains. The Balanchine, over 1800m in three weeks, is the likely next target. As well as Dubai, she has also won Group races in England and Turkey so is clearly a smart performer.”
According to Cosgrave who rode Promising Run, she was very happy to run on quicker condition as compared to her run in Goodwood last year.
