Review: USA: Pegasus World Cup 2018
Gun Runner Bids Adieu with a Bang
The Stage was set. The World Richest Race with a purse of $16M. The race course Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. A race card with some of the best horses in the business, also 2017’s winner Arrogate retired. Well Cometh the hour Cometh the man oops horse. Gun Runner won the Pegasus World Cup 2018 with an astonishing performance followed by West Coast in second and Gunnevera in third.
Gun Runner was of course the favorite to win but West Coast has also never been placed outside the top three. The son of Flatter and Caressing gave his best but landed short and was placed second.
The five year old son of Candy Ride was participating in his last race and decided he was going out in style. Now he will assume his new role as stallion and will now stand at stud at the Three Chimneys.
With Gun Runner retired West coast has established himself as a potential favorite to dominate the Handicap division going forward. Although his winning streak was broken by Gunrunner, this four year old now has a good chance to create history.
Race Standing:
- Gun Runner
- West Coast
- Gunnevera
