Preview: The HH The President Cup, Liwa Oasis & Arabian Triple Crown R2
Krypton Factor & Hawkesbury Face-off The HH The President Cup 2018
On 4 March at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club will showcase an exciting face-off between Krypton Factor & Hawkesbury in the HH The President Cup. Other co-feature races on the card are the 1400m Liwa Oasis & 2200m Arabian Triple Crown R2.
The HH President Cup is one of the three Thoroughbred features staged in Abu Dhabi. A set field of 11 horses will run 1600m for a prize of AED 380,000. This race card seems interesting with runners like Krypton Factor & Hawkesbury. The Fawzi Nass trained Krypton Factor will race against Satish Seemar trained Hawkesbury. This is a competitive field of 11.
Not many Thoroughbred Gr. 1 winners would have graced the Abu Dhabi turf, but trained by his owner, Fawzi Nass, Krypton Factor becomes the latest with Adrie de Vries in the saddle. “Our horses have been in good form and this looks a good opportunity for him. We think the conditions at Abu Dhabi will suit him and are hoping for a big run.” Said Nass.
Trained by Selvaratnam, Farraaj has been off the track since February 2016. Selvaratnam said: “Obviously he has been off a long time and is taking on race fit horses, but he has been training well and seems in good form.”
Rmmas, trained by Jean de Roualle has good chances of winning the Gr. 2 Liwa Oasis (PA). He faces a field of 15 Purebred Arabians including Lemartinel trained RB Torch. He has won his two most recent outings, highlighted by the Gr. 3 Al Ruwais, run over 1200m at Abu Dhabi.
The Arabian Triple Crown R2 is a PA race run over 2200m and is restricted to four-year-olds. In this race Riyam, trained by Said Al Badi in Oman has a big race win in England last July. He will be returning to turf after not so good outings on Muscat dirt. Riyam looks favourite to win this race along with Goshawke who will run under A Al Hammadi.
Other races on the card include Ghantoot race, Al Baynunah, Wathba Stallions Cup and Al Bateen.
