Preview: Al Bastakiya
Godolphin races three in hopes of a win.
A completely different field of horses from the 2017 encounter makes the Al Bastakiya a 1900m Listed race, an interesting one. One thing is for sure that this 1900M race does pack a punch. Last year Cosmo Charlie won the race under P. Dobbs. Qatar Man and Capezzano came in second and third respectively.
This year it’s going to be Godolphin versus the rest. Godolphin has nominated three of its performers for this race. C Appleby trained Masar and Last Voyage & Saeed bin Suroor trained Racing Country. Last Voyage came in third in the UAE 2000 Guineas held on the 15th February this year. This is the closest that any one of these has got this year. On the other hand we have the son of Quality Road, Waqqad who came in second in the Meydan Classic held on 1st March. We have Gotti who came in second in the UAE 2000 Guineas beating Last Voyage.
We also have Fawzi Nass trained El Chapo who had a decent outing in Dubai World Cup Carnival this year securing a win and two fourth places. Yulong Warrior has won the ADSB Trophy on the 3rd February. Daafg won the District One Trophy on the 04th January.
All in all a good race card to look at but we have to see it these numbers on paper mean anything on the turf this Saturday.
