“Wow” is what you will say when you look at these nominations. 25 horses each one of them either has a win or has been placed in top three at least once in the last 3 months at the Dubai Racing Carnival.
Charlie Appleby has nominated two winners in Comicas and Boynton. Salem bin Ghadayer has nominated three, the star Heavy Metal, Montsarrat & Capezzano. Heavy Metal has won two races under Barzalona M. The Firebreak Stakes and Al Maktoum Challenge R1.
Saeed bin Suroor has put his money on Dream Castle who was placed in top three under Cosgrave. Satish Seemar brings in Saltarin Dubai and Secret Ambition who won the District One Residences on the 22nd of February. Doug Watson goes all in with four of his trainees, Second Summer, Kimbear, Cosmo Charlie & Drafted.
The race is a 1600M Group 3 race on dirt. Last year Heavy Metal won the race comfortably under M. Barzalona beating Ross and Alabaster. Apart from the defending champion Heavy Metal We don’t have any of the last year’s runners repeating this year. However Heavy Metal might be scratched from this race as he is also nominated for the Al Maktoum Challenge. Other runners who hold good chances of winning are the Mina Rashid Marina winner Drafted and the CEPSA Energy Cup winner Kimbear. A very interesting field and should be a hard fought race to the wire.
