Colt by Spirit of Boom Tops the Adelaide Yearling Sale

Magic Millions’ Yearling Sales have been gaining quite hype over the gross earnings and clearance percentage in 2018. Recently they concluded the 2018 Adelaide Yearling Sale. A two day sale which cataloged 454 Lots out of which 346 Lots were sold. With a clearance of 85.43% this was a very successful sale. The gross earnings from these two days were $12,580,000 with an average of $36,358.

The top sale was a colt by Spirit of Boom and Moulin Lady. He was purchased by Yu Long Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd for $300,000. The second best was also purchased by Yu Long Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd. A colt by Nicconi and Sparkle Arkle for $210.000.

“He was short listed by Mr Zhang,” Yulong’s Eric Koh said. “We were looking for a nice yearling by Spirit of Boom – the up and coming sire”. “This lot really caught our eye and Mr Zhang really likes him – he was determined to get him”. “There’s a lot of hype about him (Spirit of Boom) and we think he’s producing really good types and we wanted to buy one”.

Later in the day two the Book Two sale grossed $1,463,000 for 123 lots sold with a top price of $62,500 for Ambergate Farm’s colt by Husson (Lot 361).

“We had our best ever buying bench here – the international buyers as well as the return of good friends of past years ensured for a really gratifying result,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. “The market probably strengthened today and we have a clearance rate of 84 per cent which is fantastic. The average of $44,000 is significantly up on last year and a gross which is up some $900,000. Vendors are extremely pleased and the results showed that buyers had great confidence in the sale. The new two day format worked extremely well with strong prices continuing through to the Book Two sale late in the afternoon. We’ve had some pleasing results through all of our sales this year and the trend continued here in Adelaide and we’re looking forward to next week (on the Gold Coast).”
