Review: 2018 Satsuki-sho
The 2018 Satsuki-sho also known as the Japanese 2000 Guineas is a grade 1 race that was raced at the Hanshin Racecourse on Sunday the 15th April. 16 horses ran in this race for the coveted title which included the likes of Time Flyer (Heart's Cry), Wagnerian (Deep Impact) and Gendarme (Kitten's Joy).
To give everyone a shock Hideaki Fujiwara trained Epoca d’Oro won the race with an amazing fashion. Jockey Keita Tosaki rode the winner passed the finish line in 2 minutes, 0.8 second. In an unpredictable fashion Sans Rival and Generale Uno came in second and third. All three of these horses were not even close to being race favorites but it was their sheer hard work that led them to win this race.
“I’m really glad. (Epoca d’Oro) raced very calmly, he’s a great racehorse,” Tosaki said. “I figured that some of the horses would try to take an early lead, so I was planning to take position behind the leaders. The race went exactly like I planned.”
