Diamonds Shine In The Jubilee
This year’s renewal of the £ 600,000 headline feature in the Royal meeting does look a stronger renewal than last season.
The returning champion
The Tin Man made a decent comeback to the track in the Listed Leisure Stakes (2018) defeating D’Bai by three-quarters of a length under Tom Queally ahead of his defence of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. The pair look primed to win in this year rendition of the race.
There are some very highly rated and talented sprinters who stand in his way.
Leading the list is
Harry Angel, who would take this ride as a stepping stone to the second renewal of the Australian Everest.
On a mark of 125, Harry Angel is rated 6lb+ higher than his rivals here. However, he has been unlucky at Ascot and hasn’t had a single win in his four starts at this racecourse. He has won all his other starts. Hmm…
He was the runner up to Caravaggio in last year’s Commonwealth Cup and the third
Blue Point boosted that form with a win in Tuesday’s King’s Stand Stakes.
Australian
Merchant Navy, who is now with Aidan O’Brien is aimed at England’s top sprints but was beaten by
Redkirk Warrior who leads the list of favourites in this field as well.
And speaking of the Warrior, he went from Britain where he was trained by the Queen’s trainer William Haggas to Hong Kong and thence onto Australia where he has simply flourished with David Hayes.
The American trained sprinter
Bound For Nowhere was fourth in last year’s Commonwealth Cup but to beat Harry Angel would just need him to make a massive jump in class.
It is suggested that this will be a classic clash of David and the Goliath, Harry Angel and Redkirk Warrior. Everyone will just get in the way.
