This tough tough handicap seems to have an interesting favourite. The British bred colt remains unbeaten in three starts having sat out all of 2017.

 

The John Godsen trained Dreamfield won a C&D handicap on his reappearance this year. The award winning trainer is likely to have Group-race aspirations down the line  for the son of Oasis Dream.

 

Explaining his lengthy absence, Gosden said: “He fractured a pelvis early on as a three-year-old.

 

“He looks good behind now and is nice and level. Some can wind up with a dropped hip after such an injury.”

 

Roger Varian trained-Victory Angel has been rather inconsistent in his performance all of last season but he is clearly talented enough to land in the trifecta.

 

George Bowen has a few aces up his sleeve. He snapped a losing run in terrific style when running away with a the York handicap last month but has been runner-up at a couple of times at Goodwood. He has the style and class to make this race his own.

 

Gilgamesh is talented handicapper trained by George Scott. The drop to 6 furlongs should suit him. The progressive 4-y-o accounted for 10 rivals at York last time and has to potential to do better.

 

All in all should be an interesting race with Dreamfield leading.
