Review: Gr.1 Cotillion Stakes 2018
Midnight Bisou Upsets Cotillion Result
The unbeatable Monomoy Girl was beaten by Midnight Bisou and Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith via an objection making the Midnight Lute colt the winner of the US$1 million Gr.1 Cotillion Stakes.
The brilliant Tapizar filly maintained the advantage by a neck at the wire. Smith's objection was lodged shortly after. The head-on film clearly showed Monomoy Girl bearing out again, sending Midnight Bisou out farther, to the center of the track.
Monomoy Girl was disqualified to second, her first loss in six starts for trainer Brad Cox this year. The other favourite, Wonder Gadot was a close third.
We can see both the winner and the runner-up clash again in the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Distaff 2018.
