Preview: G.1 Moir Stakes 2018
Houtzen, Nature Strip & Brave Smash Have A tough Race In The Moir
The Moir Stakes has a fascinating mix of Everest contenders and others, headed-up by ATC's contender Nature Strip who will be contesting for his first Group 1 win or will there be a Moir Stakes upset by a certain Muscle Ball??
Brave Smash: Japanese bred Brave Smash looks like he is in great shape to win this lead up to The Everest.
Voodoo Lad: Voodoo Lad was unlucky to beat beaten by Ball Of Muscle in The Heath. Can he beat his old rival in this contest?
Ball Of Muscle: He may not get the soft lead he likes which makes it a tough race for this super horse.
Jungle Edge: Jungle Edge like the wet. No slop no Jungle on Edge. Might not get this one.
Faatinah: Faatinah did well to win the Carlyon Stakes, but since then hasn't shown great form. Can he best the best?
Nature Strip: Top of owner Lyon's bucket list was a Group One victory for Nature Strip. This is his chance. He has serious speed needed for this race. Its an ideal distance of 1000 metres and his record at The Valley is excellent. Nothing should stop him from winning this one.
Viddora: Viddora is attempting to win what she didn't 12 months ago. She was runner-up behind She Will Reign, but has considerably improved since then and is a wild card.
Houtzen: Houtzen did well in last year's Everest and has returned to the races with an excellent performance in the McEwen Stakes. She may be able to take on her old rival Nature Strip with ease.
Missrock: Missrock may be out classed in this one although she is an excellent filly.
Spright: She may be outclassed just like Missrock in this august company.
Savanna Amour: Savanna Amour keeps appearing. Lovely isn't it. Can she take on Nature Strip and the like? Unlikely!
Snitty Kitty: She live up to some of her expectations when finished second behind Russian Revolution in the Oakleigh Plate. But again can she take on a serious field like this?
Nieta: Nieta was always expected to turn into a multi-Group One winning mare but she seems to have missed that boat. At least not this season.
