Slot holder Inglis has brought forward its Ready2Race sale capping off The Everest celebrations with a very strong catalogue and very interesting buyer-side incentives tied into The Everest raceday itself. Incentive details are yet to be announced but deputy chairman Arthur Inglis is confident that they will create an incredible benefit for those who decide to buy at horse at this sale.
Inglis bring a choice catalogue with 183 juveniles are horses by the likes of leading sires such as Fastnet Rock, Pierro, So You Think, Sebring, Written Tycoon, Zoustar, More Than Ready, Hinchinbrook, Nicconi, Spirit Of Boom, Tavistock and Not A Single Doubt as well as first season sires including Brazen Beau, Deep Field, Dissident, Hallowed Crown, Olympic Glory, Rubick, Sacred Falls, Shooting To Win and Toronado.
In what is a first time move, several vendors from New Zealand have participated in the sale.
The strength of the Inglis Ready2Race catalogue was on show at Cranbourne, Taupo and Warwick Farm.First Breeze Up
Thirty nine of the Fifty nine lots breezing, broke 11 seconds.
Lauriston Thoroughbreds’ Not A Single Doubt colt topped a professional and well-educated bunch of juveniles, breezing in 10.31secs.There is rarely any doubt when it comes to this particular sire. His raw and precocious speed is usually carried forward into his progeny. It is said that ‘they are simply born to run’. He was just ahead of the Sepoy and Starcraft colts, who breezed in 10.33secs.
They were followed by a lovely colt from Darley's homebred QEII winner Poet's Voice who died at the age of eleven earlier this year. The son of Dubawi supplied 29 juvenile winners in 2017

Third Breeze Up:
The final installment of the Ready2Race sale breeze ups was held back in Sydney at Warwick Farm, where 42 horses broke the 11 second barrier.
The fastest was the colt of American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse, Declaration of War for Hannover Lodge which breezed in 10.34secs.
“Bjorn Baker has to be credited with the bulk of the prep for this colt, who is a strong, mature colt with a beautiful stride and he breezed very well today,’’ Hannover Lodge’s Hinnerk Heuppe said.
“The dam Russeting was very good and this colt has plenty of ability and we’re hoping for a good result at the sale in a few weeks.’’
Other leading breeze up times from today included Lot 154 (Lionheart Thoroughbreds’ Uncle Mo x Shamtastic colt) who clocked 10.37secs, while three 2YOs breezed in 10.40secs - Blake Ryan’s pair of Lot 93 (Fighting Sun x Jaguars colt) and Lot 126 (Toronado x Passion Cheval colt) and Hannover Lodge’s Lot 146, an All Too Hard x Sacha Royale colt.

Of the total 137 horses that breezed at either Warwick Farm, Cranbourne or Taupo, 82 have run sub 11 seconds.
The average time of all breeze ups is 10.9 seconds.
There is a final small breeze up session of approximately 12 horses at Warwick Farm one day before the Everest, for horses that have missed breezing up in the earlier sessions.
“The horses were all presented in magnificent order by the vendors and the fast times on display is a testament to the work having been done in the prepping of these horses,’’ Inglis General Manager of Bloodstock Jonathan D’Arcy said.
Comments:
“You need to do your homework. You need a good eye. said Peter Brown who owns the confirmed Everest contender In Her Time.
“What I would look for is a well-balanced horse, with good breeding and a nice movement which suggests that it’s a good horse.”
I should be able to see its pedigree in its movement,” concluded Brown.
Everest slot holder Damion Flower said, “This is a very nice catalogue with a very good mix of horses,”
“A breeze-up is very important. I believe in seeing them run. Your eyes are a better judge. If they can’t walk, they can’t run.”
Champion trainer Bjorn Baker said about the catalogue, “Good variety. There is some good depth to the catalogue with an exciting mix of very good horses.”
“The selection criteria for a horse in a Ready2Race sale are
When I’ve bought good horses, it has always been about the balance.” concluded Baker.
