Review: Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2018
A lot of people held their breath as superfilly Enable took her place in the Arc contender's field. There was trepidation and some angst as the American girl had been held up for most of the year because of a knee injury. Prince Khalid Abdullah owned filly made her comeback a month ago in a Gr.3 at Kempton on the all-weather track.
The daughter of A P Warrior retained her her crown in the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1), under Lanfranco Dettori who was winning this race for the sixth time.
She beat Sea of Class by a nose who (Sea the Stars) after squeezing at the last moment, making her run a furlong out. But by then Enable was gushing towards the wire and couldn’t be stopped. had made up ground. In her own place she beat last year’s runner-up Cloth of Stars who was blocked in behind Tiberian 300m from the post. The Sea Of Stars colt easily beat Gallileo sired stable mates Waldgeist and Capri (Galileo).
Adian O’Brien trained Kew Gardens stayed in the back throughout and ended up an unplaced seventh.
Enable’s owner Prince Khaleed Abdullah joins Marcel Boussac with his sixth success.
