Chris Waller Funster headlines Gr.1 Darley Flight Stakes
This Group One spectacle is starting to look like a Australia versus New Zealand cricket match, with the Australian Chris Waller-trained Funster taking on New Zealand's Probabeel from Jamie Richards’ Matamata stables.
Funstar: Funster is likely to give Chris Waller another Group One trophy after proving her prowess in the Gr.2 Tea Rose Stakes last month, where there was only a nose between Funster and Probabeel when they ran the quinella.
Probabeel: The Jamie Richards trained Probabeel has a great chance to take the Flight Stakes trophy over the Tasman back to New Zealand if she can turn the tables on Funster. The Savabeel filly will relish the step up to the 1600m. Kerrin McEvoy has retained the ride on Probabeel who won’t be bothered by the outside barrier in the six-horse field.
Girls Are Ready: Queanbeyan filly Girls Are Ready is certain to boost her bank account with prize money but its hard to see her beating Funster and Probable.
St Covet’s Spirit: St Covet’s Spirit is looking good to score in the Superfecta
Foxborough: Is unlikely to best Funstar and Probabeel. She seems outclassed here.
Our Girl Sniti: Our Girl Sniti will be in blinkers but is still unlikely to make the win for trainer Ron Quinton.
